Confused about buckles? I don't blame you. Here's some straight forward explanations:

"Pre-V" means a curved Panerai style buckle.

"GPF" means a flat Panerai style buckle.

"Mod Dep" means a flat Panerai style buckle that has "GPF Mod Dep" engraved on the back.

"Thumbnail" (also called "ardillon") means a simple curved buckle found on both Panerai and non-Panerai watches.

1: Spring bar Pre-V (curved) buckle: $10 with strap

Sizes: 22mm, 24mm, 26mm
Finishes: Polished, brushed, PVD

These buckles are economical, handsome, reliable and easy to install and remove. Pre-V style buckles are curved to better fit the curve of the strap on your wrist.

If you're concerned about durability, keep in mind: Patek, JLC, Breguet, Rolex, Omega, IWC and dozens of other fine watchmakers rely on spring bars in their straps and bracelets day in and day out.

2: Sewn-in Pre-V (curved) buckle: $20 with strap

Sizes: 22mm, 24mm, 26mm
Finishes: Polished, brushed, PVD

With sewn-in durability and style these curved Pre-V buckles with a straight tang offer a great compromise between historic looks and modern comfort.

3: Sewn-in GPF (flat) buckle: $20 with strap

Sizes: 24mm, 26mm
Finishes: Polished or brushed

This is a historic buckle with simple good looks, these are flat as a board and stylish as hell IMO. They're 2mm thick with a nice tang and very solid construction. They're a natural addition to the more historic straps I offer.

4: Sewn-in Mod Dep (flat) buckle: $30 with strap

Sizes: 24mm, 26mm
Finishes: Polished only

These buckles give the full historic feel of the original Mod Dep buckles used on the very first Panerai watches. "GPF Mod Dep" was short for "Giovanni Panerai Figlio Modelo Deposato" and was the trademark engraved on the original Panerai buckles. The engraving is clean and clear, very nice. If you're wanting that final historic touch to your strap this is it. Please note: The "GPF-Mod Dep" engraving is on the back of the buckle, as seen in the second picture.

5: Spring bar thumbnail buckle: $10 with strap

Sizes: 18mm, 20mm, 22mm, 24mm, 26mm
Finishes: Polished or brushed

A simple, elegant solution if you want a buckle that maximizes comfort or you need a buckle for a non-Panerai watch. Spring bars make these buckles easy to install and remove.

Screw-in buckles: Not offered
